But with many aspects of wedding planning, selecting what favors to give your attendees can be a difficult task. A genius and effective wedding favor you can give out at the end of the night is snacks that people can enjoy as they head back home or to an after-party. ![A snack table with treats, representing wedding favor ideas.](https://yazzevents.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/wedding-favor-snack-ideas.jpg) ### What to Put on the Wedding Snack Table - Ice Cream/Popsicles – Having your wedding in the summer? Then sending your guests off with a refreshing cool treat can make them even more thankful that they were invited. - Hot Cocoa – Winter weddings can be fun, but going from a warm reception venue to a frigid night can shock some people. Keep them warm as they wait for a ride home with a delicious hot chocolate drink. - Local Delicacies – No matter where your wedding is, there is likely some sort of local dish that the area is known for. Chicago weddings could have mini Chicago-style hot dogs, a slice of deep dish, or maybe an Italian beef sandwich for guests to enjoy once they are back at their hotel. - Homemade Sauces – Giving your friends and family a sauce that they can use for months after is a delicious way for them to remember your special night. This could be a hot sauce, tasty salad dressing, or just one of your favorites that your friends know you enjoy. - Cocktail Recipes – A special cocktail at the reception bar is always a great idea, and teaching others how to make it can be a subtle way to inform friends what you’d like to drink the next time you visit them. Fill a mini-bottle with the concoction and attach a recipe card to the neck to spread your favorite spirits. If you want your guests to work up an appetite during the cocktail hour and reception, then hire the [musical talents at Yazz Events](https://yazzevents.com/chicago-wedding-bands/). Our [musicians](https://yazzevents.com/chicago-musicians/) and DJs can have your party-goers dancing all night long so that the wedding favors are a needed refreshment at the end of the night. **Categories:** Blog Post --- ### [Office Party Ideas That Your Employees Will Love](https://yazzevents.com/blog/office-party-ideas/) **Published:** September 28, 2023 **Author:** Yazz Events **Content:** Office parties and corporate events are a great way to reward your employees and reduce stress. Office Olympics, murder mysteries, and escape rooms can all be good options, with teams competing for bragging rights or a trophy/prize. - Company-Based Refreshments – A simple cocktail hour can be a perfect way to let coworkers mix and mingle. If you want to add a fun touch, you can name a few drinks after products, services, or the favorite drinks of the executive team. - Live Music – Finally, putting on a private concert for your company can have employees talking for years to come. Among these, selecting the song for your first dance emerges as a pivotal decision that soon-to-be-married couples face. This is one of those special moments on your wedding day that you and your attendees will remember for years, so it is crucial to select a unique first dance song that reflects your relationship. ![First Dance Wedding Couple with wedding guests in background, seating, watching them dance](https://yazzevents.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/1.jpg) While some couples have that particular song that immediately comes to mind, others may take longer to discover their ideal melody. For those who don’t want to pick from a list of popular first dance songs, we have some helpful ideas that can help you choose the best choice to help you fall in love all over again. ### Make a Date Night Out of It Transform the search for your first dance song into a romantic date night. Set aside an evening at home, free from distractions, to dive into your favorite albums and playlists together. Create a cozy ambiance with dim lights, perhaps some candles, and let the music play. As each song unfolds, share memories that come to mind or how the music makes you feel about each other. Take notes on the melodies that move you, the lyrics that touch your heart, and the rhythms that make you want to dance. This intimate setting can turn the task of choosing a song into a memorable part of your wedding journey, allowing you both to connect deeply with the music and each other. ### Create a Collaborative Playlist Embark on this musical quest together by creating a playlist where you both can add songs that resonate with your relationship. Listen to these tracks during various moments, such as a quiet dinner at home or while on a drive. This shared experience not only helps in narrowing down your choices but also enriches your connection as you explore musical preferences together. With time, one song will naturally emerge as the perfect choice for your appearance on the dance floor. ### Match the Song To Your Dance Style There are several styles of dance that couples choose to perform in front of their family and friends, from intimate sways to rehearsed choreography. A slow love song that allows you both to embrace the moment is just as valid and meaningful as a dedicated performance that gets your blood pumping. As long as the song feels natural and brings you closer together, then you will know you made the right choice. ### Seek Outside Input If finding the best first dance song for your special day is overwhelming, then you can always reach out to those around you. Seeking the advice of friends and family who have spent tremendous amounts of time orbiting your relationship is a fantastic place to start. If they have extensive music knowledge, know your preferences, or just understand what makes you tick, they may have a suggestion in mind that clicks. You can also rely on the professional musicians and DJs you are hiring to give you some friendly advice. At Yazz Events, our talent works with you to [create custom playlists](/chicago-tailored-music-options) given your taste and input to ensure that you have the exact experience you want on the dance floor. If our perspective is in any way useful to you in the planning process, we are more than happy to contribute to your beautiful event. **Categories:** Blog Post --- ### [Traits that Make a Good Event DJ](https://yazzevents.com/blog/traits-of-a-good-dj/) **Published:** September 29, 2023 **Author:** Yazz Events **Content:** If you have been to enough weddings, corporate events, or just parties in general, then you will begin to understand which DJs are talented, and which just throw on a random playlist. Many brides view this as a way to express their individuality and ensure that they stand out with their wedding attire. - Multiple Appearances – A growing trend for wedding dresses is transformations or rearrangements between events. A long train worn during the ceremony can be clipped up into a bow or detached completely to allow for more movement on the dance floor. Whether it is for comfort or to stun guests with another amazing dress, the second look is a surefire way to make a splash at the reception. ### Entertainment for Guests and the Party - Live Music – While DJs are still a popular option for wedding planning, many want a more memorable experience during the reception and decide to hire a live band. Musicians performing live can provide a more energetic atmosphere for your guests and will keep everyone dancing the night away. - Interactive Entertainment – Photo booths, artistic performers, or a scavenger hunt around the venue can keep guests enthralled while you move through the reception. Unique guest books are another option where guests can sign polaroids, leave fun and thoughtful messages, or suggest amazing date night ideas for the happy couple. Another new development is having an audio guestbook, where your wedding party and guests can record personal messages for you. ### Theme and Location Suggestions - Sustainability – Perhaps the biggest trend in the world of [weddings](https://yazzevents.com/weddings/) is ensuring that the entire event is sustainable. This means biodegradable napkins and decorations, environmentally friendly transportation, and choosing caterers who get locally sourced ingredients. - Alternative Venues – Gardens, restaurants, and orchards have become unconventional areas for wedding receptions and ceremonies. You can decorate and add a touch of your style to the venue of your choice when you are the first to have a wedding there. We offer everything from solo piano, violin, cello, or guitar to string quartets, harp, and acoustic vocal duos for ceremonies. We also provide ceremony officiants who work seamlessly with our musicians to create a perfectly coordinated ceremony experience. **Q: Do your DJs and bands take song requests?** **A:** Absolutely. We work with you in advance to build playlists that reflect your style and preferences. We also offer do-not-play lists and custom edits to make sure your day sounds exactly the way you want it to. **Q: What is the Amy Yassinger Orchestra and how is it different from regular wedding bands?** **A:** The A.Y.O. is our signature 15-piece orchestra featuring 4 vocalists, horns, strings, and full rhythm section. Unlike typical bands, there are no breaks — we alternate between intimate jazz combos for dinner and the full orchestra for dancing. It includes custom wardrobe, video banners, and club-quality sound systems for the ultimate luxury experience. **Q: Can you provide both intimate ceremony music and high-energy reception entertainment?** **A:** Absolutely! We can start with a solo harpist or string trio for your ceremony, transition to a jazz ensemble for cocktails and dinner, then bring in our full party band or orchestra for dancing. It’s like having multiple bands at your event, all perfectly coordinated. **Q: Do you offer gospel choirs or specialty ensembles for ceremonies?** **A:** Yes! Our professional gospel choir features 6 voices in traditional robes, perfect for ceremony processionals or special moments. We also offer New Orleans-style brass bands, Big Band Jazz ensembles, and Latin groups for couples wanting something truly unique. **Q: Do you travel for destination weddings?** **A:** Yes, we do! While based in Chicago, our performers are available for select destination weddings and out-of-state events. Reach out for travel availability and custom arrangements. ## Still have questions? After numerous requests came in for Amy’s band for events, her band Amy and the Yazz Men was formed. Over a decade later, her team grew to become Yazz Events. It was at a wedding where she connected with a DJ and learned how crowds interact at weddings and what they are looking for musically. Because over 65% of couples request a DJ, Amy brought on several talented and experienced DJs to her team to enhance the experience of her couples. Her band grew from a quartet to an 8 to 20-piece orchestra! Over the years, Amy has worked to customize musical options for clients wanting re-enactments from movies to Oscar-themed parties and many immersive experiences in between. Every member of the team is passionate about performing and transforming the atmosphere with music. ![A female vocalist singing with passion for a photo gallery.](https://yazzevents.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/gallery-1.jpg "Heatwave | Yazz Events") [Heatwave](https://yazzevents.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/gallery-1.jpg)### Heatwave ![The Yazz Jazz band in the middle of a live performance.](https://yazzevents.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/yazzjazz.jpg "Yazz Jazz | Yazz Events") [Yazz Jazz](https://yazzevents.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/yazzjazz.jpg)### Yazz Jazz ![Professional headshot of Amy Yassinger, bandleader of Yazz Events.](https://yazzevents.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/about-2.webp "Production | Yazz Events") [Production](https://yazzevents.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/about-2.webp "Image of event space with uplighting, LED lights on tables and LED lighting in highboy tables.")### Production ![A professional DJ at work for a gallery of event photos.](https://yazzevents.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/gallery-3.jpg "Yazz Strings | Yazz Events") [Yazz Strings](https://yazzevents.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/gallery-3.jpg)### Yazz Strings ![The acoustic trio performing for an intimate gallery event.](https://yazzevents.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/gallery-2.jpg "Yazz DJs | Yazz Events") [Yazz DJs](https://yazzevents.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/gallery-2.jpg)### Yazz DJs ![A live band performing on stage, featured in an event gallery.](https://yazzevents.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/gallery-4.jpg "Amy Yassinger Orchestra | Yazz Events") [Amy Yassinger Orchestra](https://yazzevents.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/gallery-4.jpg)### Amy Yassinger Orchestra ## PROFESSIONAL MUSICIANS AND DJs ### Meet the Team With our team of music experts, adding a special touch of elegance to your event has never been easier. We also offer flexible formats to fit everything from intimate gatherings to full-scale productions. **Q: Do you offer both DJs and live bands?** **A:** Yes! We offer award-winning party bands, professional DJs, acoustic musicians, jazz ensembles, string quartets, gospel choirs, brass bands, and our signature 15-piece Amy Yassinger Orchestra. Each act is curated to match your event style. You can book them individually or combine services to create a full entertainment experience with seamless transitions throughout the night. **Q: What makes Yazz Events different from other Chicago entertainment companies?** **A:** We focus on fully customized entertainment — no cookie-cutter shows here. Our team includes only seasoned professionals, and we coordinate everything in advance so your event runs smoothly. Unlike other companies, we also offer rare ensemble options like gospel choirs, brass bands, and orchestras. Our goal is to elevate every event through intentional curation, professional execution, and unforgettable performances. **Q: Do you serve the entire Chicagoland area?** **A:** Absolutely! We perform across Chicago and the surrounding suburbs, including Naperville, Schaumburg, Arlington Heights, Lake Forest, Evanston, and more. We’re familiar with nearly every major venue in the region, which allows us to handle logistics efficiently and adapt to each space’s layout and sound requirements. **Q: What happens if a musician or DJ gets sick?** **A:** We always have trusted backup performers on call. Because our team works together regularly, replacements are fully prepared to step in with minimal disruption. We maintain detailed event notes to ensure consistency, and our production crew keeps everything aligned — so the show goes on without anyone noticing a difference. ## Weddings **Q: Can you provide ceremony music in addition to reception entertainment?** **A:** Yes! We’re familiar with virtually every Chicago venue and can recommend the best entertainment option for your specific space after discussing your venue’s layout, acoustics, and any restrictions they may have. **Q: Do you handle setup and technical coordination?** **A:** Yes! We handle all aspects of setup, technical coordination, and logistics. We arrive early for sound checks, coordinate with your venue, and ensure everything runs smoothly so you can focus on enjoying your event. **Q: What’s the booking process like?** **A:** Start with a quick call or form submission. We’ll discuss your vision, recommend packages, and send a formal proposal. Once the contract is signed and a deposit is received, your date is locked in! We provide ongoing communication and planning support leading up to your event. **Q: Do you carry insurance?** **A:** Yes — we carry full liability insurance and can provide certificates to your venue upon request. **Q: Can you accommodate last-minute changes or special requests?** **A:** We understand that events evolve!
